Parts Arrived!!

so, my upper control arms came in today!

Blox racing, brand name stuff, not cheap! (probably weighs twice what the cheapos did)

I really like these gussets on the backside..

I'm not sure if I'm going to start this project tonight or what, but I'll take pics and document this little repair. I've also got a little something up my sleeve for Skiddy. That's all I'm going to say....

Thanks,
Victor

Got the upper control arms out and the new ones in! Pictures as promised.

Lesson learned.
These old mounts are no-name ebay cheapos and cost just under one-third of the new parts.
I don't want to think what could have happened if these things let go on the highway.

here's the broken driver's side:

up close:

same thing on the passenger side arms:

I mentioned that the new control arms felt heavier, and I was right! Here's the proof, in pounds and ounces.

Old - 2lb 14.9 ounces

New - 3lb 6.7 ounces

Hopefully these new upper control arms will last a lot longer. If the money has anything to do with it, they'll last at least 3 times longer. Only time will tell.

Thanks,
Victor

I don't even want to know how long the old ones were on the car for. Glad you changed them out! Made another car on the road that much safer

Sure. tomorrow morning sometime. I still have to take her around the block and check my camber. Don't forget I've picked her up about an inch and a half up front and removed the airdam and lower grill block - lots of screw holes

They went on at the beginning of this thread. I do enjoy a little speed on the on-ramps and cloverleafs, but this is unacceptable! It's not like I'm at the track or out hot rodding around all the time, either.
I'm real happy the car is safer as well, my family rides in the Minion with me frequently. Safety and reliabilty are key.

Thanks,
Victor

Be sure to post a negative review on that eBay profile. If it only happened to one, I could just say it was a fluke, but BOTH? Obvious flaw due to cheap materials used. Could have gotten you/family killed, extremely unacceptable.
