Good question!

With sales of the car down a lot in the U.S., I wonder if they would ever consider a "stripped down" version, possibly with a smaller engine.

Highly unlikely is my guess. Lots of arm chair commenters (North America) already complain the engine is not powerful enough.

We're definitely in a tiny, tiny minority even thinking that one with lower hp is an interesting idea.
