More progress!
I went to see the machinist - we cut off the tailshaft, he had the weld done on the coupler, and had made the spacers.
We put the spacers on the motor.
Then attached the doubled adapter plate.
And attached the part one of the coupler.
We set the transmission up on top
A few of the bolt holes had to be reamed out to line up perfect.
We ran bolts, washers, and lock washers through, and then laid it down on the floor.
I checked the electric connections and hooked up a 12V jumpstarter.

Yep, sounds a little loud to me too. Guess that's what I get for having it in gear with no transmission lubricant.
Now, if I can just weld/repair the control arm mount, I can get the motor/tranny mounted.
I did get an e-mail back from that battery lead. It looks like I will be able to get as many as I can carry for not that much over the recycling value. Hope to go get some in the next few days!
