I completely cured the bucking with a good cleaning of the EGR manifold and soaking the valve.

Also I disassembled the portion of the valve with the sliding electrical contacts in it after reading that some appeared to have been assembled with the metal contact "fingers" upside down. I seem to recall flipping mine over. Or I could be making that up... it was a long time ago.
