Your car produces more power/heat than mine, but I pulled a ~1000lb trailer through the mountains for 1500 miles and had no problems with zero air gaps for the exhaust, I just put the pan right over it. After climbing a mountain in 2nd gear WOT for a while the center hump would start to get mildly warm to touch, but I've never had any problems. Anywhere the coroplast physically touches the exhaust it's going to melt, though.
You could try a piece of aluminum flashing as a heat shield.
