Coroplast Belly pan Question
Ok so I added some coroplast to the underside of my car under the engine and transmission. I have about an inch gap between it. Will it be ok for heat?

Transmission cooling would be something to worry about. Exhaust burning the coroplast is another.

A bunch of gys on here have done this mod, and I don't recall anyone discussing manual transmission cooling as a problem. Search for bellypan projects and PM someone. I think the aerocivic has had a full pan for close to a decade. When you say you left an opening, what kind of opening? It is likely to scoop airflow or just vent it out? Is any part of the front grill open, so that air is getting into the bay under higher pressure and seeking a way out?

Your car produces more power/heat than mine, but I pulled a ~1000lb trailer through the mountains for 1500 miles and had no problems with zero air gaps for the exhaust, I just put the pan right over it. After climbing a mountain in 2nd gear WOT for a while the center hump would start to get mildly warm to touch, but I've never had any problems. Anywhere the coroplast physically touches the exhaust it's going to melt, though.
You could try a piece of aluminum flashing as a heat shield.

What Ecky said -- if you're worried about particular spots just rivet some aluminum flashing to the coroplast.

No the gap I'm talking about is I left space between the plastic and the engine. No hole to let in lol. I just wanted to make sure that have that space between would be far enough, and the plastic wouldn't melt. I just went from the already covered nose back. As for exhaust right now I'm just going to leave the channel open, until I get some aluminum.

For a syn-lube package,General Motors is allowing:
*239-degrees @ coolant
*284-degrees @ engine oil
*221-degrees @ ECU
*338-degrees @ brake fluid
*284-degrees @ transaxle
with -22F-degrees,to 122F-degrees

so I still monitoring engine temp with the UG it hasn't had any change since I have done the pan. So I think I'm safe. I have gotten more done, just have two small pieces to do to finish it off. Amazing how aero dirty this car is underneath. Lots of walls they made with the frame so she is smooth back to the gas tank which is plastic so its pretty smooth from there back. So far so good so I'll keep with it. Just need to modify the front piece over the oil pan so oil changes are easy.
