Average US gas prices are already higher than 2016's peak, and there are at least a couple of months to go before things top out this year.
EIA is estimating $2.47 as a summer average for 2017:

appear to be trimming the global oversupply, and now there's even talk of a possible extension.
Though U.S. fracking companies are ramping up oil production quickly in response to $50+ oil.
