U.S. gasoline stocks dropping

Quote:
Gasoline stocks have declined rather significantly in recent weeks, at a much faster rate than at this point in the 2016 season.

Source: These Fundamentals Point To Higher Oil Prices | OilPrice.com

That's the first time in quite a while that the current stock level is "colouring between the lines" of the 5-year average. (In other words, below last year's record numbers.)

Not surprisingly, the average U.S. gas price jumped after this week's stockpile report and is at a 30 day high .

Possibly temporary. OPEC (and non-OPEC) agreement to cut output is showing signs of strain.

higher than last year's peak already

Average US gas prices are already higher than 2016's peak, and there are at least a couple of months to go before things top out this year.

EIA is estimating $2.47 as a summer average for 2017:

(Source: https://www.eia.gov/petroleum/weekly...ysis_print.cfm )

Multiple news stories are saying the OPEC cuts appear to be trimming the global oversupply, and now there's even talk of a possible extension.

Though U.S. fracking companies are ramping up oil production quickly in response to $50+ oil.

Not terribly concerned. If oil prices go up much more it will then become more profitable for domestic pumping out of the ground and thus more supply. We are in a good position when it comes to energy. Some people I know in oil say this point is spot on.

average gas prices in my city:

Europe 95E10------90RON octane, 10% ethanol: 1,47€/litre-------5,97$/Galllon
Europe 98E5--------93RON octane, 5% ethanol: 1,55€/litre------- 6,23$/Galllon
Europe RE85------101RON octane, 85% ethanol: 0,998€/litre-----4,00$/Gallon

(mind ethanol gas almost always raises consumption by at least 10-15%)

No 'clear premium'? I couldn't live like that.

My most recent receipt from Mathers Market in Cedar Flat: $3.899/gallon.

Holy moly your government taxes you guys a lot on your gas! In the U.S. our tax on gas is relatively low and this why 1/3 of your pricing.

Gas prices at 2017 low for 4th of July holiday

So much for OPEC's plan to "re-balance" the oil market.

Quote:
Gas prices at ‘2017 low’ going into July Fourth holiday

February of this year was the last time the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was this low nationally.

[...]

The price of gas has fallen for 24 consecutive days.
Gas prices at 'all-time low' going into July Fourth holiday - News - Times Record - Fort Smith, AR

US oil & gasoline stockpiles are still at or near record highs, and the effect of the "summer driving season" on demand appears to be AWOL this year.

Too many people hypermiling, is my guess!

G'day all, Here in New Zealand the price of fuel are,
Petrol is $1.839 per liter or $6.96 per gallon, road tax included
Diesel is $1.079 per liter or $4.09 per gallon +road tax 6.2 cent per KM =10 cent per mile also $130 dollars more for registration every year and that makes a diesel car not worth having, ive had 4 diesel cars but have a petrol/gas car now.
Greetings,
Eddie.
