You went where I was going: cardboard. Need it to be slippery: another piece of cardboard.
Not oil- or water-resistant, but hey - it's cardboard. Let it dry out a bit, burn it in the rubbish pile. That starts the firewood, and then it's time for post-wrenching hot dogs.
