About 10 or 12 years ago, it seemed to me, Mercedes started producing a number of aero-slick body shapes. Some of them made me rethink Germany. I remember a beautiful large Mercedes coupe (CLS 550?) ten or 12 years ago with a fab bowed/arched trunk lid separation point. Beautiful car. The newer C class is slick too, though not as pretty, IMO. Audi and VW had some larger coupes with similar aero/aesthetic features at the time... all of it seems to be in line with this philosophy of "emotional" and aerodynamically effective design. They seem to be on the leading edge again. Totally took a certain kind of cutting edge lead from Toyota, whose Prius shape lots of people recoil against.

See my car's mod & maintenance thread and my electric bicycle's thread for ongoing projects. I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.
