I wonder if battery health will be better on the software limited cars since it's not charging to "full"... or is it charging to full and not being allowed to drain to "empty"? Either way should help preserve battery health.

That said, I wonder if the range will hold up over time, with the software allowing more of the battery SoC to be unlocked as it wears out? Whereas a non-software locked battery will lose range over time, a software-locked battery could simply make a greater percentage of battery available over time to preserve the original range (60 kWh).

If the software preserves the range over time, then I would be inclined not to pay the extra amount to unlock the full range, and instead get the benefit later on.
