Not true. There's zero way to operate a manual as smoothly as an auto. You're accelerating, then let off the throttle and put in the clutch to shift. Your acceleration goes slightly negative then and the person rocks forward. Then you start applying throttle again and they get pressed back again.
I'm extremely good at driving a stick, and even as careful as I could be, have noticed my passengers rocking about as I shift. It isn't so perceptible to the driver because they are prepared for it since they are doing the shifting.
