Prime time!

I've got my friends' Prime again for a few days.

Good news...

Since my last report, they've bought a house, so they're plugging in the car regularly now, with a positive trend showing in their energy consumption.

Current odometer / "lifetime" MPG reading (gasoline consumption only):
  • 32308 km @ 4.5 L/100 km
  • 20k miles @ 52 MPG US
The last 3 or 4 fill-ups show a better picture:
  • 2430 km @ 2.5 L/100 km
  • 1500 miles @ 94 MPG US
Compare to their initial usage, when they lived in an apartment and the car was rarely plugged in. Back in May, it was showing a lifetime reading of:
  • 5.1 L/100 km (46 mpg US) with ~22,000 km on it.

Bad news...

The house they bought is out of town! The one-way distance to town is almost exactly the EV range of the battery pack. Doh!
