I definately agree that grass-roots is the way to go.

Even when laws are passed to do something good, they end up doing weird things and costing the taxpayers (us!)

Personally, I tend to be a bit Civil Libertarian. I guess I wouldn't want a Federal Mandate saying that the max speed limit on the interestate was 45 (although the would save a LOT of gas)

But as a driver, why would I NOT want to slow down a bit. I get better mileage, and am less likely to loose control of the car, or die in a crash.

If other people ride your tail or flip their lights or fingers - that's their problem - not ours. It's a free country. Those guys are free to be jerks and waste gas.

Unfortanutely, they are also free to be bad drivers. But you can't mandate not being a jerk.

We collectively need to change our relationship with cars and slowly help others to do the same.
