I had the same issue.
You don't need any hardware, just the arduino 011 downloaded and running and a usb cable. Cut and paste the code(sketch) from the mpguino google code page (in the wiki i think) into a new sketch in arduino then hit the "upload sketch" button with your guino hooked up.

If you get the sketch too big message then bug dcb to shorten it for you. There are a few of us that need a shorter sketch.

You have to wait 20 seconds before re-plugging if you disconnect the mpguino. I.m too busy to add this to the wiki right now.
