I've seen it (and other computers) freeze when touching the circuits. I'm just a little concerned that different platforms make different sized hex filed for the same avr platform. I think I can find 10 bytes easy enough.

I'm starting to think it's a voltage problem. It froze and / or reset a few times today, usually when I had a large load on the batteries. I am running without alternator and voltage drops under 12 sometimes. I will have to hook it up to a separate battery and in an enclosure to eliminate those possibilities.

Is there a minimum voltage where it resets or data is corrupted?

If that does not do the trick next possible cause would be signal issues, I guess, reading from other posts.

reflashing? hardware needed?

I had no clue about waiting to plug power back in after unplugging. Will have to find the known issues page. It kept freezing or resetting on me and I would unplug it and plug it back in. I think it had to do with temperature as it didn't seem to have the problem after about 10 minutes (car is parked in a Michigan garage.) I'll have to take it in the house with me.

Well, today I did that and it died, no screen even with usb. What do I need to be able to reflash the chip aside from the arduino IDE 011? Do I need to make some sort of ciruit board? As long as it's simple I'll be fine. I'm good with electronics but have never etched a board or anything like that but could do the breadboard thing if it's not too many connections. I don't see anything burnt or a bad solder connection. I'm pretty good at soldering and I don't have any desoldering braid atm to try to get the LCD board off to check anything on that end. But when building I doublechecked all my soldering and of course had to add a bit more to a couple.

I had the same issue.
You don't need any hardware, just the arduino 011 downloaded and running and a usb cable. Cut and paste the code(sketch) from the mpguino google code page (in the wiki i think) into a new sketch in arduino then hit the "upload sketch" button with your guino hooked up.

If you get the sketch too big message then bug dcb to shorten it for you. There are a few of us that need a shorter sketch.

You have to wait 20 seconds before re-plugging if you disconnect the mpguino. I.m too busy to add this to the wiki right now.

much appreciated

Thanks I really do appreciate it. I hope to be able to contribute myself, I should be able to help the Honda owners, especially the older ones (cars not people, heh.) It worked so I'll see if I can get to the bottom of the speedo issues and post a how to.
I'm also great with rotary engines and the 2nd generation RX-7, I could easily hook one up to those. But I doubt there is any on here (mine sits in the garage lonely.)
