Long story short -I got it repaired enough to drive again. And after I get the exhaust back on this weekend I should be good to go!
ps. I think Ill stick with the recomended 25mph when using chains in the future.

I strongly recommend the Laclede Alpine Sport chains. Very easy to put on (you don't have to drive on), and they grip very well. They're available at Kragen.
And keep it under 35. :-)
