You cannot get a base model to achieve the same gas mileage as an XFI. Trust me I tried for a very long time. I completely rebuilt a base model with an xfi camshaft in it. Put exactly the right tire diameter in order to achieve the same gear ratio as the xfi model, and I still didnt come close. There are too many other factors involved.

I've heard the same thing, better to find a real XFI!
