That’s a sweet ride! Thanks for sharing.

In a way, I find it disappointing that the production model seems to have scrapped the three seat design. It makes sense in terms of sales, though. I think cars like the Honda Insight and CRX could have been made as three seaters.

My hatchback doesn’t have much for taper at the rear, and if I were to mess with the stock bodywork I would need to find a different rear windshield. That opens a whole can of worms in my mind.

For example, if I were to imitate that Citroen I linked, then I would dig up some previous plans I had drawn. The idea was to take the sunroof mechanism out of my crashed ‘97 and turn that into a rear windshield. Could function like the sliding rear glass on a newer Toyota 4Runner. The sunroof is at a decent width to act as a rear windshield, and I could taper the C-pillars accordingly. I would have a limited degree of taper due to the doors and B-pillars being pretty far back on the car.

Ideas…ideas…

The Emory Motorsport Special had a third (child) seat centered where the +2 seating was; so they could take their kid to track day. Can't find a picture of the interior, even the one I took in the 1990s.

'tufts'

What are your thoughts on the Volvo 3CC, aerohead? I haven’t seen this concept mentioned much on this forum.
I would want to remind you and everyone else that 'tufts' will not necessarily reveal airflow phenomena as 'smoke' would. Attempting to interpret what the actual flow is solely with tufts can potentially lead you down a rabbit hole.
We know this from the Porsche 911 ( 901 ), VW New Beetle, and 2011 Audi A7 specifically.
One can easily mistake separation-induced 'downwash' for 'attached flow,' which can be 'fatal' as far as aerodynamics goes.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Volvo is borrowing from 1920s Airship under-slung control cars, Rumpler's 1924 'boat' Limousine, Ludwig Prandtl's 1937 'Lange' car, of which Dr. Erwin Komenda created Porsche's lowest drag 60K10, Berlin-Rome racer , R.G.S. White's 1969 MIRA 'recipe' car, 1978 D-B, M-B C-111 III, Daihatsu UFE-III, VW 1-Liter car, MG EX-181, so many others........., where the greenhouse is 'disappearing' both in side elevation and plan-view. Your challenge will be a 'narrow' DOT-approved, laminated safety glass windshield which will run you $1,000-$10,000 depending on source.
