I've read though a few important posts to get the intent of use out of the template. From what I can tell, it was originally intended to be used as a "quick and dirty tool", a start in the right direction for most.

If I can make a request, when it comes time to do a "Part-D", that it be 3D and include cross sectional information.

There was a thread to turn it into 3D, I'll find it later if someone else does not post it first.

Possibly this one?

Why does The Template have to be a half body of revolution?

I have been playing with the “new” template, and it appears to be a very close match to the roofline of a seventh generation Toyota Celica. I did a rough PowerPoint overlay using a Celica off the internet. Thank you Aerohead and ChazInMT for all your work in giving us these tools to work with, it is very helpful.

Many months ago someone pushed and I went ahead a posted some extra views of the 'Template' I'd been working on.These were just working drawings.
I'm not sure how the thread was even titled.
A literal 'translation' of the 'Template' would be the 1/2-body generated from the 2.5:1 streamlined body of revolution from which it is derived.
It would be 'wide.'
Considering 'conventional ' body dimensions, the plan-view of the 'template' will look more like the low-drag 'section' profile of Hoerner's just to accommodate the more narrow vehicle.

It looks really good!
You'd have an easier time than most pushing that puppy into significant low-drag territory.
Nice project car!

How would this airfoil fair?

Link has plot data. Has an aftbody ratio of 1.833 (bit long) but this airfoil looks a bit too fast at the start. Havent compared it to new template yet, as I am on my tablet right now, but earlier on the computer I compared to old template and it seemed way faster and longer.

Looks good in the part that counts the most from top out to 50%, this is pretty ideal.

I would compare it to Mair's boat tail.
He used about one body diameter length to curve his body into a 22-degree slope, and then just maintained a constant slope as in your rendering.
The 'straight' conical sections are easier to fabricate but must be reinforced from the inside,as they have no eggshell strength of the compound curve and will 'tin can'.

I remember the images, a nice blue 3D teardrop with a tight black wire grid over it. It sort of looked like the spaceship Moya in the Sci-Fi cable TV show called Farscape.
