Hey Everyone, I don't know if this is the right category to post this in, but I'm curious to know how many people are thinking of selling their cars/trucks/suv's to buy a more fuel efficient vehicle?

I'd like to trade my civic in for something like a diesel yaris but i'd get nothing for it! No, i'll be scrapping mine! Thought of restoring it but don't have the time.

depends on how much u drive and how much u owe on the car/truck
with my truck it has been paid off since 2003. and with hypermiling get ~30mpg with my 4x4. so no y trade it.
hell i also have a 09 tacoma 4x4(bout 20mpg, wifes)) and a 07 camry se(mine) and just drive them with no fuel savings in mind.

now if u drove a tahoe got 13-15 mpg, and could get close to even for it then yes if u could stand a smaller car, if not just learn how to drive and enjoy.

No - I come from a family of who would "drive them to dust".
the Altima has been paid off for a few years now - looking to drive it for another 3 - 4years ( or as long as it goes before it dies)

But when i DO need a new car - my #1 criteria is going to be FE.
by 2010 there should be a buch of cool hybrids / electrics on the market so i wanna make this last until then.

Hey Ya'll,

This thread was started over on the Tacoma World forum. Here's the link:

Anybody thinking about selling because of gas prices?? - Tacoma World Forums

The original poster mentioned a Smart Car, and they talked trash about it. It is an interesting thread.

Later,

I have thought about picking up something different, but I really do love my old a-bodies. I plan to keep them going as long as I can.

I'm still waiting for the car industry to come out with a car that has better FE on the highway than mine, so the selling argument is mute at this point.

I've already sold my less efficient motorcycles, a total of 3 motorcycles, a moped and an electric bicycle, in order to buy my electric car, I also plan to sell my 1983 civic because it only gets 41mpg, and keep working on my other electric car.

I believe both my cars are fairly fuel efficient already, but I'd definitly like to upgrade if I could.

I'd sell my Matrix to get a Prius if I could find one reasonably priced. I'd also think about selling the Paseo for an Insight, again the price differential is too large for me atm.
