Why a holley carb?
They are not really known for fuel economy so much.

We didn't have much luck with an annular discharge 650 two barrel on our 265" straight six. We had great success with a 500 two barrel. We spun it 8000 rpm in a six cylinder stock car class back in the 70s.

The key to carb performance is air velocity which keep the fuel droplet in suspension. It must be selected for size to give 1/4 the speed of sound at Maximum HP.

I have had Performance Trends engine analyser for about 4 years. I use to build string instruments and understand the importance of air waves. I noticed one day that most engines that I built were making max HP at about 280 to 290 ft./sec. This does change with altitude also.
To better understand intake flow we must understand frequency science. Studying harmonics and wave length will help understand.
My Hypothesis is maximum torque is largerly influenced by CID, cam prohile, compression and intake port cross sectional area. Maximum torque is also influence by intake port length and Plenum Volume.

I am very much considering a 4.3 TBI setup using Megasquirt 2. It seems to be versatile. How much more mpg would I get. ???

If you got your carb and distributor dialed in at cruise I would expect the same mileage. However the tbi/ megasquirt system will instantly adjust for all other conditions. So overall you will see significantly better mileage overall. Carbs have three modes: idle, cruise and power. Tbi have infinite modes.

+1 more on 4 barrel and some 2 barrels , secondaries they can be progressive (what an Ecomodder would use) and 1:1 (race use). My 82 gmc Jimmy s-15 was basically a 4-barrel carburetor cut in half front to back.
