Joined the EV club.

Traded in my 08 Prius for a 2019 Chevy Bolt LT.

I was able to get the $4000 used EV Federal Rebate.
I'm also able to get back $4000 from SCE for a used EV

My purchase price was $13,400 with 80k miles.

I got $3000 for my prius. Kids man.

Cherry on top is the battery hasn't been replaced yet under the recall. So I will be starting with a brand new battery with a 100,000 mile 8 year warrenty.

I was close to purchasing at the end of 2020, but figured prices would plummet more due to the recalls. Instead, all used car prices shot through the roof. I'll start looking again. My parents aren't getting enough range in the winter for local driving in their 2012 Leaf.

I think the federal rebate at time of sale has something to do with this. Some dealers in my area are advertising the price of the bolt with the $4000 already knocked off. Very deceptive.

Yes, I've been tempted to buy a Bolt.

But as it stands:

1. You never know if the dealer has knocked off the tax credit off the price or not, meaning you have to research each and every car's actual price.
2. There's still some doubt as to whether the federal tax credit will apply to those of us who may not have a tax liability of the entire $4,000 or $7,500 for the year the vehicle would be purchased in. In simple terms, it's still not clear if I got that as a point-of-sale if I'd have to pay all or part of it back because of not making enough money.

Perhaps it doesn't matter. Here in Reno, close to the left coast, the law says if it is advertised at a price, there must be at least one available for purchase at that price, rebate not included because that rebate is not part of the asking price unless visibly posted as such on the vehicle and in the advertising. They also have to provide data on whoever bought it if it's gone.

Our local chevy and ford dealerships got sold for this and other related reasons

Little update after having the Bolt for 11 months. I've made it the whole time just charging at level 1 at home. My daily commute to work is only 3 miles. I've done a few trips to stretch the battery a few times. A 70 mile trip to Murrietta, and 70 back left me with 100 miles left. A trip up to LA and back from OC left me with around 100 miles upon getting home. Had my mechanic check it out and he was impressed with how simple the whole car is minus the EV components.

Anyone else rocking L1 charging for a year?

11 years on the converted Ranger including 4 years commuting to work. L1 is how it was designed.

I've had a 220-VAC Level-2 EVSE since March, but never the time to pull the dedicated circuit.
The roof on the 'shed' is going to be raised about three-feet, then the concrete slab goes next. At that point the infrastructure will be 'stabilized' and I can install the circuit.
Local warm-weather range was as high as 303-miles ( with all the low-battery alarms going off, and screen blanking off data ), but never stranded, and 12.5-cents / kWh/ 'solar' plan. $ 5.266 /gallon-e. at around 150mpg-e, at 80% charge efficiency ( which will climb to 91% at 220-V ).
It's been as low as 28-F. and I haven't run the heater, except for the steering wheel. No 'battery conditioning' ever reported by the car.

My hunch is battery conditioning is only tabulated when running on battery power. Plenty of folks on the forum report electricity usage while plugged in on cold days despite not driving.

So all this 'new' Bolt needs now is an efficient onboard genset!
