Retro-fitting Third Gen:

/hardware.slashdot.org/story/.../safer-nuclear-reactors-are-on-the-way
Quote:
In some of the variations, the zirconium cladding is coated to minimize reactions. In others, zirconium and even the uranium dioxide are replaced with different materials. The new configurations could be slipped into existing reactors with little modification, so they could be phased in during the 2020s. Thorough in-core testing, which has begun, would have to prove successful, and regulators would have to be satisfied.

Notice the Slashdot comment moderation. The social media could take a clue.
It would take 49.5-trillion new trees to compensate for the carbon from fossil fuels. And that wouldn't affect the carbon dioxide already in the atmosphere at all.More than the entire surface of the Earth, including all the oceans, lakes ,and rivers would have to be 'planted',and that still wouldn't be enough.

New heat record for Alaska

Anchorage,Alaska hit 90-degrees F on the 4th of July.An all-time record high. They don't have AC up there, the homes are insulated to keep heat inside, and they can't ventilate the homes, due to smoke from wildfires, which are causing 17,000 premature deaths a year now.Permafrost is going away.Sea-ice is going away. Some villages are awash.
Happy-happy joy-joy!

The 4th hit 79, and I somehow got sunburned watching a rodeo.

Today it might break 70. Feels like May, not summer.

We're finally coming out of cloud cover which has held temperatures down, although we've had heat index values as high as 112F out in Mineral Wells,Texas. It was 109 here on Father's Day.
It's this latent heat that's gonna kill us.
The climate geeks keep pointing to high polar temps, which effect the polar jet, which in turn effects the jet stream, which is wandering around like a drunken sailor.
Enjoy the cool while you have it!

dark matter

I looked at NASA's website. They published a paper last month in the Astrophysical Journal (available online),from the Marshall Space Flight Center's CHANDRA X-ray Observatory satellite mission. They're looking at dark matter in a galaxy called Markarian 1216.
From the main NASA JPL website,it looks like they're toying around with three possible theories to explain the accelerating expansion of the universe.
It's 'quarky' stuff!

They'll figure it out eventually.

I think the residential design envelope should be 0 to 100° passive and -40 to 140° active, up to 200mph winds and either buried in the ground or decoupled from it.

I know what that would look like. An hemisphere with an oculus.

You know it's summer when weather is climate.

But the sun and clouds don't effect the climate.
According to the doomsday global warming cult.
