I persevere only when I can see that people are being led astray by bad advice.

I care litttle what Aerohead believes, but when that gets turns into poor advice for others, that isn't right.

Hucho

In fact, as someone else has asked, can we have page references each time you invoke "Hucho says"?

After all, the last page reference you gave from Hucho (on purportedly supporting the template) did not do so.
1) on attached flow: page 114, ' The C-Pillar vortices are so strong that flow remains attached over almost all the sloping back, despite the large angle of inclination.'
2) on the 'template':
* Schlichting page 22
* Hoerner pages 52, 70
* Richard Von Mises pages 102, 104
* Hucho pages 15, 16, 39, 61, 109, 141, 142, 144, 169, 200, 201, 209, 210, 281

tufts.... pressures

I think I'll go on what I can measure, and on what some of the top aerodynamacists in the world tell me. Both have vastly more credibility than 'Aerohead' on a discussion forum.
1) Tufts demonstrate phenomena limited to the boundary region, whereas only smoke flow visualization can accurately represent attached/ separated flow.
2) No one will dispute your Magnehelic readings. If you want to come over to the 'States' and measure Spirit, come on. You will basically find positive pressure acting fore and aft, and 'neutral',or zero lift. That's all I'm claiming for the 'template.'
3) The deeper you dive into road vehicle aerodynamics, you'll eventually come to the same conclusion as I have about vehicle architecture. And you'll realize that if you have enough money, you can already buy a vehicle with the 'template' contour from Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Bugatti, Chevrolet, Ford, Genesis, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Polestar, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, and Volkswagen. You can't buy 'ALL' of it, but you can buy 'some' of it.

Dueling walls o' text. My eyes glazed over. Do you guys use speech-to-text?

The only reason I got to the bottom because of the first line:

Good practice would be to provide a link: https://ecomodder.com/forum/showthre...etle-8412.html

I'll just point out another Ecomodder thread: Compact camper alternative: New Beetle TDI with hard mounted pop up tent Permalink #15

Unfortunately, the pix were hosted on tinypic.
I tried to use your instructions (thanks again) for linking, but I couldn't get it to work. I could be as easy as a 'right' click instead of a 'left' click, I don't know.

What happens when you try?

Two steps:
  • Copy URL (the Permalink for an individual post).
  • Use the hyperlink button (the little globe) and paste.
The correct form is [U*L="x"]x[/U*L]. You could just type it out that way but the button does it for you. The link in quotes is operative, the link between the brackets is not. It can be anything: Permalink#24.

Right and left click duplicate menu or pop-up functions.

Seems like I left-clicked through your menu and failed to link.
Back in the day of PhotoBucket, some right-clicks were required to link an image. After they seized everyone's property, that was the end of my posting.

attempt at image

I tried again with Daox's protocol and couldn't get that to work either. Maybe it has to do with the Paste function which nobody explains.

Show us your work. Copy your failure and paste into a QUOTE and change that to CODE to preserve formatting so we can see what you get; else just post a fail.

If you can't even past, that is a local problem. A workaround would be to transcribe the link by hand. Tedious, I know; but the machine works for you, d*mmit!

On topic: I trust those tufts on the 911 are pasted down by inward rolling vortexes. The invisibility of that process is why no-one could explain the efficacy of the Herrod Helper. It's worth was proven on ¼-mile tracks.

The Herrod Helper was so beneficial, that it was banned for a time in circle track racing. Hot VW Magazine recently conducted a study on their gas mileage engine to see if the Herrod Helper really does make a difference. They found that it does, with 2+ miles per gallon.
I just remembered, somewhere I have a beige plastic wing off a GTI or something. I could put that on the Superbeetle.

911 in wind tunnel

The site I wanted to share is:
TechArt wind tunnel testing on pinterest. The smoke flow visualization clearly demonstrates that the air does not follow the 911's aft-body contour at all.

showing work

1) Acquire URL of target (copy from box at the top left browser window)
2) In Message: text window click the (icon) button, it's left of the (icon) and (icon)
3) Paste into entry field
4) Profit!
In my case, one would not want to assume that I know anything. Not the slightest thing.Any missed step, the rest of the world would take for granted is all it would take to scuttle my best efforts.
