Update on my second tank of May:

Turned out better than expected, drove 428.2 miles on 10.018 gallons of gas making 42.8 MPG, calling it 43.

I used the A/C quite a bit on this tank too, might be able to do better now that my windows are tinted. Just think of what I could do if I went back to stock tire size, my guess is I could crack 50 MPG on my first tank, and that's with an Auto!!

Damnit, now I'm getting curious,.

First trip with the car in May, 34 mpg EPA is 25.

My long term goal is 40, and considering the car hasn't had any modifications done to it I'm confident I can attain that number now. I might raise it up to 45 once I hit 40, its addicting already.

Arrow Hail from Norman

Good Evening to all,
I have been trapped by the gubmint in Norman, OK.
They are training me to be a better employee, teaching me the ins & outs of new deisel diagnostic technology.
It has been two weeks and I am going stir crazy(ref. Gene Wilder)
So I have rented a car (Small SUV actually) a Kia Rhondo.
It seems nice,
It has everything,
Enterprise screwed up and had to drive me to OK city airport(Will Rogers World [they didn't have room on the sign for International] Airport), so I had to drive back here.
Judging from the lack of movement on the fuel gage this thing should get pretty good MPG.
We'll see.
After the rent fiasco they told me I could bring it back empty and dirty.
Lucky me.
Now where to go? Hmm? I don't really want to go just to go. Dotcha know.
However there are things in this area I would like to see.
The OK City Memorial
Kansas
Dallas
& apparently the worlds best Zoo is in OK City.(I'll let you know) I love Zoos.(sp?)
Well now I am not trapped any more so I don't feel like a caged animal.
Next week different story.

If you're into Weather, the NWS Severe Weather Prediction Center is nearby too...

I've been stir crazy in Tulsa quite a lot. Let us know how the Rhondo works out!

We stopped at the Oklahoma City Memorial a couple years ago. I have to admit to some serious melancholy during the visit. The Field Of Chairs was particularly stirring to me. And my family was moved by the tour through the museum.

I strongly suggest a visit if you have time in the area. Easy on and off the freeway.

I've been to other memorials. Most notably the Arizona memorial, the Vietnam memorial, Ground Zero museum in Nagasaki. I've been moved by each and every memorial in some way.

WHile discussing driving in the month of May...

I'm not driving the ZJ much, my son drove it his last weeks in school and I have no idea how much gas he used or bought. So, I've been driving the Neon, and will have some numbers up soon.

I echo that sentiment. The museum is very well done, and almost puts you there that day. I've also visited the Arizona which is also moving.

In addition to OKC, for me there are 3 places that stick out as leaving the biggest impression: The Holocaust Museum in DC, the Vietnam Memorial, and NY's Ground Zero (we went a couple years after, and the remnants of personal memorials were chilling and rather moving).

Definitely stop by the Oklahoma City Memorial if you have a chance...

28.8mpg

Not to good (even though it is a record high for the car). Oh well, at least I kept my miles per day down. I averaged 14 miles driven per day.

Yep, you spelled it right. If you had said "I love Zoo's", I would have had to say "You love Zoo's what?"
