I understand what you guys are saying. I've had a few mud running jeeps over the years and I've had good luck with blowing out the radiators cooling fins with compressed air backwards. I'll try that and see what comes of that

Actually at that age I was more concerned about the inside of the radiator, but if the outside is covered in debris, then that should be addressed first.

Update, went 104 miles on 2.3 gallons. I've been topping off at the same pump using the same filling technique, pulling the handle two times after it stops itself.

That's 45mpg

Also got my vx wheels on with some all seasons. Those steelies with studded snows were loud and heavy!

I once told a neighbor "my car will go 40 miles per hour on the same fuel your's consumes sitting still idling".

That was 40 mph on .5 gallons per hour versus his V8 pickup sitting still idling at .5 gallon per hour, with no additional accessories running.

Also as an ex racer, you have been absorbed into the efficiency infastructure. From now on you will only think about getting the maximum work out of every molecule of fuel you use.

At 128 mpg you are going 1 mile on one ounce of fuel. My best was 170 mpg on a 1965 Honda 50. 128/170 ounce per mile.

Stick a piece of 2X4 under the left rear tire for more consistent fuel fills. Let the pump shut off without topping off. Too much fuel will contaminate your evaporative emissions recovery system.

Here in the cold winter, too much fuel can burst the recovery system. I have done it twice. I no longer "Fill" the tank just before parking. Only at the start of trips. Makes for inconsistent tracking in the tank to tank log, but better for the very expensive OEM recovery parts.

You should have picked up insight rims and Bridgestone potenza RE92'S. It's the best rim/tire combo there is out there. Civic HX rims are good as well.
