Yes it does.
My engine only had about 6,000 miles on it when I started experementing with water and water/alcohol injection and it made all kinds of strange smells for about the first day. It smelled like fire works being shot off.

The intake manifold remains clean as a watch even with the PCV going into it.

I have mostly tested consumption rates between 1 and 2 gallons of water for each gallon of fuel.
1 to 1 worked fine for my last road trip, the only reason I see to use more than that is for cooling effect.

Have you ever had an oil sample pulled? I'd be curious to see whats happening.

I think the only emission equipment my tdi has is the EGR system.
Looking under the hood my tdi seems to be free of all the emission hoses you would normally see.

Yes, you can mail it out. Just google "oil analysis" and you'll find several companies. I know Blackstone is a popular one.

I'm not sure about Canadian emissions regs. I think they're basically the same as US, but I'm not sure. In the US, there were no DPFs before 2007. DPF's require ultra-low sulfur diesel (<15 ppm sulfur), which wasn't on the market until the MY 2007 vehicles started coming out.

I wasn't planning on it since the oil drain plug magnet has almost nothing on it after every 3k to 4k mile oil change.
I must have built my engine good because I am only seeing 1/3 to 1/4 of the metal shavings I am use to seeing on a drain plug with a new diesel engine.
