Any updates on this low cost high performance bms....

I am looking for an alternative to my enginer bms that is regarded as a rubbish design

Any news on price / availability please.

Thanks

The BMS is in intensive testing on a real car, the user has converted the car to 180Ah CALB cell. We encountered some EMI problem but solved now. This car is old, 1996, and EMI wasn't a priority at this epoch !! Thus the embedded charger is very very noisy and the BMS slave communication was perturbated on slave having a long cable from the previous slave. But now with a small capacitor on the slave input everything work well.

You can find some photos and charge/discharge curve on this forum topic : Connexion

For availability, I already launched a 100 slave board preserie, and now I wait the quotation for a 500 slave board serie.

But before selling I need to redesign the master board, actually there are not enough inputs / outputs for my taste !!
And internal relays are not usable directly (no enough admissible current), I want to remove them and add another inputs/outputs for future use.

But one thing is sure, when everything will be finished it will really the perfect BMS

Hi nlc,

glad to hear the project is still on track.

I would be really interested in using your system, even as a test rig if you needed further testers.
My cells are real force pouch cells, 20ah capacity, arranged 4 cells in parallel giving 1 cell at 80ah output, and there are 16 of these giving a 48 volt dc battery rated at 4kwh.
The cells are managed by a bms that is not very good, with no balancing function.

I currently balance myself manually with a hobby charger, this works really well to be honest as the pack is petty well balanced and cells are well matched.

I had been looking into an Arduino project to manage the system, but yours looks to be a system worthy fitting.

Additionally to my original bms (enginer PHEV ver 3.3) i also use cell logger 8s with relays to cut off charge voltage at cell 3.6 volts instead of my bms set at 3.8 volts.

Hopefully you can report back soon with a final design system and some idea to cost to give us members an opprtunity to buy and try out your system.

Many thanks, Anthony.

Thumbs up nedd BMS master and slave

Hi nlc, great JOb....saluuutt...

I am working with 144V/300AH LFP batteries pack. I am going to order the complete set of your BMS PCBs (master/slave) or the complete kit when they ready.
I've done Paul and sabrina controller (500A),now on going to build cougar 1000A, and IGBT base for 2200A.

I've done also the 10KW charger. I bought the complete kit from emotorwerks.

thank you very much,

Hello KUSAW,

Last week I designed a new master board, more input/output than the previous one we installed on an electric Peugeot 106.

I received the pcb last week, I will populate the board this week end :

Input/ouptut are :
- 12 to 24V power supply
- 230V detection input (to launch charge mode)
- Ignition input (to launch discharge mode)
- 4 digital input
- 4 analogic input 0-5V
- 6 digital output, with 4 PWM capable
- 2 analogic outputs 0-5V
- BMS Slave board Interface
- 2 serial port (firmware update, configuation, bluetooth module option, datalogging, etc...)
- Real time clock, (delayed charge startup for example)
- Can bus
