I find the group of people rooting for the EU to fail very odd.
In the second half of the 20th century, after the creation of the EU, we have had no major wars in Europe. The first 1/2 of the 20th century had the two bloodiest wars the world has ever seen and the centuries before that weren't pretty either.
A huge part of that is the EU. Shared economies, shared borders, shared defense, and free movement of people throughout the bloc.

Most of the people I know who hate the EU lump it in with the UN and the "new world order". Actually a pretty anti-muslim crowd.

I doubt their hatred is greater than those that hate the EU and them as well.

I was thinking about people in the USA, with zero skin in the game, hoping that the EU fails.
Maybe it is jealously that the EU has a larger economy than the USA?

I want to see the EU succeed in a sufficiently constrained scope. Perhaps the UK backing out will force the EU to think about what they've done to precipitate that move and make corrections.
The UN is corrupt AF. I see value for there being a UN, but again, it has to be sufficiently constrained in scope, and comprised of members that have an interest in reality instead of fake news. We know they are malicious considering half of all resolutions to condemn a nation are against Israel. Is it reasonable to believe that over half of all the atrocious actions taken by nation happen in those tiny 8,550 square miles?

The EU is a nice concept but having a monetary union without a fiscal union is basically a recipe for disaster which plays out over and over. Open borders are a popular liberal concept (and Europe is very liberal) but that's also being strained with their immigration policy.
The UN doesn't really have any teeth. I don't get why people complain about it so much, what does it even do? You give 5 countries veto powers, of course they're going to use them to block things against their interests.
