Mother of All Milage Attempts

So I'm going to start my project - in which I hope to blow away mpg records for highway milage - with a very simple mod to a standard Ford Focus - I'm going to post pictures - no words - until I get the results or close to the results I'm looking for - I call the project the C-Smash - since the letter C stands for 100 - and I want so smash the 100 mpg barrier - Pictures to follow - if all goes well - I'm hoping for well over 200 mpg - not a good mod for city driving - but since I'm a comuter - I came up with the idea while putting in all the highway miles.....Hope to achieve success within 3-6 months from now - as it goes - the pictures will reveal the project.....

If you can find time as the project progresses,it would be very helpful to provide as many specifications for the car as you can as well as baseline performance for the unmodified Focus.
You've set a high bar for yourself. It will be an interesting journey.

If you count the miles it falls when you drop it out of the back of a C130, you might get to 100-200 in a 07 Focus.

The garage page for the car says:

Quote:
The Wheel - it a mod where the car is.......OH - can't give that idea away for free - I plan to get a patent on the idea - then test it and give the results - so that if it works as well as I hope - I can sit back and retire early - sipping cold adult beverages on the beach -
I'm starting to believe this is not a serious project. I also read some of your other posts, claiming this one small simple mod will improve your fuel economy to 100 MPG. That kind of claim without any information or data is worthy of The Unicorn Corral

The "one small modification" and outrageous goal smacks of the "one weird trick" ads and overunity videos on YouTube.

Now, you may have something going on that none of us do. You might be an unheralded internal combustion genius who will set the world on its ear - and in light of our current environmental mess, I welcome the economic hurricane that would raise. It would be worth it.

But until you actually post some records in the garage on your car's fuel log, until you tell us a little bit about your one simple mod, I'm mentally filing you under Unicorn even if you aren't there officially.

Any kind of specificity would be very welcome. It would help us take you seriously. You need not even fear for your idea's propriety; publishing in this venue would establish provenance and a timeline from your idea to you. So go ahead, tell us what's up.

Put Nitrogen in the tires, throw the muffler away, and stick a K&N on it and you too can get nearly 100 mpg. I think a Ram Implosion Wing will put 'er over the top.

If you post a truly novel, patentable idea, on a public forum, then any chance you had of getting a patent just vanished.

File a provisional application, followed by a complete application, within a year of the provisional filing. In the meantime, any discussion of your "novelty", above and beyond the criteria of "obvious to someone educated in the art" which is a damn near impossible threshold to surpass, very ambiguous and hard to contest without spending a small fortune on legal assistance, then you might get a patent after a few years.

I know the process, since I have one. Any revealing of the novelty, which is the only patentable part of any design, without a non-disclosure agreement signed by the party to be made witness of the "novelty" could kill the process, unless you have documentation of the originality of the novelty before the NDA was ever issued.

regards
Mech
