Not a bad idea, do you normally check your speed after say a half mile or do you go the full mile? I know of a perfect road not far away, although coasting down for a whole mile could get a few cars behind me mad.

I'm going to build a cheap one this weekend for my 2011 f150 and see if it helps at 70 MPH. It would be far easier to take on and off for road trips which would be the idea.

Construction notes: (correct me if wrong)

20-24 inches In length
8-12 degree downward taper
tonneau all the way up to sail panel or just last 2/3 of bed?

My understanding is a partial tonneau in this situation is better, whether half or 2/3rds I don't know.

I have a built in instantaneous fuel gauge, I just don't anticipate in seeing any substantial difference between the two.

The half-tonneau needs a partition wall so the back of the bed is a closed box.

I did a linear interpolation from a photo-enlargement of GM's drag table.
It looks like,that without the partition,the 50% cover gave a -Cd 0.0434 reduction.
With the partition,-Cd 0.0395 reduction,almost 10% difference.
