Nope. No more setup fee. But ordering 10 at a time is cheaper (per board) than 5 at a time, so it's just irritating.

If the order can't be increased, I vote for waiting until after the first set are tested so that any issues can be dealt with.

I don't remember how many of these old controllers I have. They are sort of stacked up in a shed, a few others are hung on a wall of the garage ... and a couple of the larger ones are under a tarp with my (abandoned) SalvageS10 project. There are *AT LEAST* 10.

Question

Actually, looking at Future electronics, they have a 1100V, 1500uF model:
http://www.sbelectronics.com/wp-cont...00uF_1100V.pdf

Now here are some things that are confusing me: We are running wye connected three-phase, (at least my motors are) and the phase-to-phase voltage is what's important; So, what are the battery (and that capacitor) subjected to?? I mean, if one does the calcs for 120V three phase, the phase to phase voltage is about 208V.

It seems doubling the IGBT rating for potential spikes is a great idea, but how does this work out for the DC link capacitors??

Thanks for any help and education!

At the moment, I only have 600v 600amp IGBTs. If people were wanting to drive that 650v motor, you would also need a different ring cap, and 1200v IGBTs. They have an 800v ring cap now.

The Toyota MGR doesn't **need** the oil in it to turn. I'm just turning the whole differential by hand to get the resolver waveforms. This is assuming you turn it slow enough by hand that it doesn't need lubrication or cooling.. One of them is sitting on my desk with wires in/out of the resolver, the other is sitting around in many pieces.

Basically, you induce a sine or cosine wave into the resolver,(using some source; I started with my signal generator) and it puts out a sine AND cosine waveform to calculate the postition with. So when I said I needed three Microprocessor connections, I am going to produce a sinewave based on a pulse signal (filtering, basically) then interpret the output of the resolver using the signals put into the PIC's AtoD converter. So far, I've gotten through making a sine wave based on a pulsed output. It is possible to get some pretty ugly "sine waves" out of a resolver when you put in some ugly signal waves...

By the way, I'd love this to be your prototype; (it would be nice to work out the control software like this) however, I'm not sure whether the average "customer" of the controllers would prefer an induction motor or a PM synchronous motor. You've made a lot of progress with induction motors - this will be a pretty significant change. It can be run on much lower (less dangerous) voltages; it just won't hit it's rated power/speed capability.

EDIT: Here's my 2nd attempt to make sense of my confusion:

This is for 208Vac (phase to phase) 3 phase:

If you have a battery pack of 293VDC, you get a phase to phase voltage peak of 293v, which makes for a RMS voltage from phase to phase of 208VAC.

Let's say you have a path on 2 of the 3 half bridges like this:

The lower left IGBT must block the whole dang 293Vdc. And so does the poor upper right IGBT. OK! It's more like 292v due to the voltage drop across the IGBTs! haha.
