Aye the 2nd gens have some frame in the way as well. However it isn't really a structural piece. Can easily be eliminated and reinforce the central section supporting the radiator and hood latch. Plus with strut tower bracing the front section is even less important.

I can't say if it is on yours is similar or not as I don't remember my 1st Gen very well. My assumption would be that it is much the same.

Ah. I'm just concerned because the hood rests on that bracket as well. A strut tower brace is not high on the priority list.

Should be similar but the 2G's aren't really a rebody as far as I know.

Of course if you swap over to hood pins you can do away with the hood latch, release handle and cable, hinges, much of the reinforcement under the hood...and at the same time not worry about that part of the frame even more.

I may have missed this at some other point in your thread...but were there any changes in how stable the car feels at higher speeds? Mainly curious about the effect of the changes to the front end and belly pan. I'm assuming that's not even remotely a concern given your intended use case but just wondering if you'd given it a try.

Yes, hood pins might be interesting. I'll think about that!

It's gone over 100mph and it didn't feel unstable. Can't really give you a before/after for that. Once I lower the stagnation point on the front end (a big problem with Probes) it will be even more stable than it is now. Your rear diffuser angle also makes a difference and I plan to revise mine when I do the boat tail.

Oh, i miss your old paint job... Such a beauty.

Are you just using spray paint? If i ever find a cheap car to play with i'll have to resurrect your design. Such an awesome car, razzle dazzle should be a standard option on cars!

Yes, I also think that razzle dazzle should be an option, but I think the UFO Recovery Bureau concept is much cooler and funny

so the problem is due to corroded wiring specifically on your ground so if it happens again use you jumper cables from your negative terminal to the block and try starting it again if it starts right up that's your problem
so an easy fix replace the ground wire

Yup, just Rustoleum. This time I sanded the entire car down with 400grit, which helped a little. I'd like to get a 1G Probe model kit and remake the thing in its dazzle phase in 1:24 scale.

Got the new belly pan about halfway done today. It's got an aluminum bar structure anchored to the rear beam this time to make it a bit more permanent and effective, and make it easier to integrate a full belly pan onto it. It'll also be easier to add the boat tail.

I'll go to Ax Man to get some more giant signs for cheap, spend way too much on more Al bars and start the boat tail. I work at Menards so I get a 10% discount, but it's still going to take a big chunk off the ole paycheck.

New rear tires are getting switched over tomorrow. 195/65/14 instead of 185/60/14, so they'll be taller and wider. Hopefully the skirts don't have to come off to get the new tires on.
