Anyone have a link to these 19 in wheels? I might consider "downgrading" for the added range  Although I wish there were more tire reviews out there with actual hard numbers.... can't find anything on these hancook ion tires >_> but I heard pirelli are pretty good.

I never really tested it, but I did see better MPG on highway trips. Too many variables to claim (or even remember) the improvement.

If you made one again would it be as aggressive?
I cut out a blank for a splitter for the Metro, but if I put it on I can't use the ramps to lift the front.

I wish I had known about throttle stop testing back then! But if I was building it again without testing, I would probably do it the same way.

Is there any merit to what this guy is saying?
If so I am more convinced switch to 19" tires might give me the additional range I want. I'll have to look for new 19" rims....rip |

Yes. And we'd also have active suspension, and how it mitigates some of the effects to talk about, as well the ' windage / ventilation drag' of the higher porosity wheels themselves.

tire / wheel width range penalty
Over the weekend I found a few more cars which have optional wide tires/wheels which also suffer:
VW ID4
FORD Mustang MACH-E GT 'Performance' ( 10-miles lost )
Subaru/Toyota Solterra 'Limited' and ' Touring' ( 6-miles lost )

Mercedes-Benz reported that the front wheel aerodynamic drag of their VISION EQXX concept constituted 33% of overall drag ( Cd 0.0566 ).
Rolling-resistance is 20% of overall road load.
The proprietary Bridgestone concept tires designed specifically for the EQXX work out at a coefficient of power absorption of 0.003390449732, which can be compared to as high as 0.015 for some contemporary tires.

Are we discussing the VW, FORD, and Subaru?
If so, they all have a 'base' car and wheel/tire combination which allows more range than the upmarket, optional, larger wheels/tires.
And it will be an aerodynamic drag penalty because of increased frontal area, windage drag of the wheels, and higher power absorption of the tires them selves, because of the more quiet and softer ride ( hysteresis loss ).
