Probably less than electrocution. Alls I know is my son [in his home] has vowed never to go up there again.

My ceiling/roof is two sheets of aluminum 2" apart. full of fiberglass insulation and extinct ant colonies.

You know, maybe it's just me, but if I moved to the United States and had the chance to build myself a custom house, finding some way to prevent incidents like that wouldn't be "over-engineering" at all. I really can't understand why it's still so common for Americans to build their houses in such a half-assed way. Brick and mortar are expensive, and finding the right Mexican guy to do the job is hard, but nowadays even a shack in a Brazilian favela (slum) may occasionally seem over-engineered

Americans nowadays seem to be more concerned about insulation than other features. And even though some synthetic materials used for insulation have a fairly good quality, some look clearly half-assed, yet are still widely used. After that Brazilian TV host Gugu Liberato died from a head injury after falling from the attic of his house in Orlando, a local TV show in Brazil displayed a very similar attic insulation which looked so half-assed that even in a 3rd-world country such as Brazil it would be mostly rejected.

I don't know that Americans are any different than anyone else, but the new concern seems to be air-tightness.

Myself, I think the first concern should be shape. Something round, rather than the telescoping gables of McMansions.

Just highlighting some differences between the ways a house is built there and in other countries.

When it comes to rounded shapes, might be good for an increased weatherproofing, as it seems to not be so easy to get damaged.

I'm toying with the complexities of using my RV engine coolant to pre heat my RV's potable water tank while driving, allowing my shower point of use water heater to be downsized by having slightly above ambient water temp to heat.
