I got 63.9 mpg at a constant 55 to 56 mph on the interstate, two 45 mile loops.

For comparison, what would a stock SC1 get at a constant 55 to 56 MPH ?

I think some folks might confuse this with the official EPA highway figure , which I assume is not reflecting a mileage figure at a constant speed .

( not meaning to sound doubtful, but rather confused )

I'm so jealous. My average mpg in Bob (combo highway and city) each week is 35-37 no matter what I do. :-( Granted, Bob is rated at 26 city and 33 highway, so I'm still doing better than rated, but....I want in the 40s at least!

fuzzy math here... 33mpg = 7.12771 l/100km, and 36mpg = 6.53374 l/100km ...so IF everything was perfect and easy to compare the auto would use 9.1% more fuel than the manual on the highway. so then 63.9mpg = 3.680979 l/100km x 1.091 = 4.01594809 l/100km or about 58.57mpg. so in a world full of perfect constants, if my auto was modded in the same fashion it should get 58.57 mpg at 55mph... but i think even at 40mph im still in the low-mid 50s

kinda a farfetched tangent there

Was this the mileage at a constant speed ?

My automatic '93 Civic used to get anywhere from 35 - 70 MPG at a constant 55 - 60 MPH.

Using a SuperMID showed that my mileage was constantly changing despite driving at precisely the same speed even on a flat road.

It all averaged out to around 44-45 MPG on highway only trips driven at 55-60 mph.

I guess what I'm wondering is this : if I take a Saturn SC-1 and modify it exactly as you have

Arcosine, I then drive at 55 mph on a dead flat road in perfect weather .
With cruise control engaged and with the engine on and no coasting , what would my mileage be, and would it constantly fluctuate, or would I see a steady 64 MPG for several minutes versus one second of 64 MPG , followed by a drop to 52 then up to 54 etc .

I filled up 1.419 gal after driving 90.7 miles on the interstate about 55 to 56 mph with cruise control. Distance and speed according to GPS

Constant speed economy test 55-56 mph highway, two 45 mile loops on interstate. temp 77F, sunny, 12 mph ne wind. max speed 65.7, ave driving speed,53.2,ave 49.5. engine temp close to half, tires: 47 front 44 rear. turned engine off at stops. Coasted down 2 hills, about 1 mile. I filled up drove home 1.2 miles to get the cell phone, then 2 miles to the interstate. gas :93 octane Phillips 66.

So if I understand correctly , the car has no instrumentation and you are basing the MPG figure off of a fill of less than 2 gallons ?

Not doubting you, just wondering how you got your information .
