I've not had much luck in blowing them up however.

It's paywalled. I'd really like to see Wind-induced dynamic behavior and its load estimation of a single-layer latticed dome with a long span but at $31.50 my need to know would have to be a little higher. Nice to know it's there though.

Also, thank you for your careful annotations in the Pelican Parts thread. I know it's a no talking thread, but the leads are very helpful.

That's really fun! I can see it parking along Pacific Coast Highway at Malibu 'n taking in that delicious point break.
A local glass guy who will do 'chops' says that he has only about a 33% success rate.So the windshield is impressive.

I thought flat glass is fairly easy, maybe I'm wrong. 59 Caddy tailights are defintely aero, though.

I like the way strapping the front of the board into the wheel well holds the tail out to clear the rear tire. Two redwood long-boards would make awesome fender skirts.

The late Bob Parsons worked with glass (he did all the decorative glass for Steak and Ale Restaurants).
He told me that he'd successfully cut laminated safety glass by double-scoring it,then igniting a line of gasoline spread on one side along the score,then when heated,would snap it,parting the inner adhesive lamination.
I have some of the glass he gave me for experimentation.
Doing single-curve or compound-curve glass is supposed to be the real challenge.
If you do the dual Duke Kahanamoku redwood long-boards you MUST hang a leather strapped Tiki from the rearview! It's the law!

kach22i -- I feel like I slighted your contribution. The egg shape and triangular faceted windows look very much like the redesign for my Cortez that I posted a while back.

aerohead -- That's tyhe traditional way, or must grinding it down on the edge. I wonder who's using lasers. A narrow cut that moves too fast to heat up hte glass locally sounds like the ticket.

And a piece of that lead-infused electrically-defrosted glass they used in Taurus windshields would be the best choice. Rat rods need the heater channels replaced with 1'4" plate to section the body and you lose the defrosters.
