Thanks My SG was 3 wraps around the steering column and sat perfectly on the guage cluster. I will have to take into accout additional mounting fee for UG unless my ashtray or coin tray will happen to hold it perfectly.

Probably because most people "tuck" the wire behind the dash - and even through it. Cutting 14 zip ties whenever you want to hide the gauge is a huge PITA.

cheap ultragauge bracket

I cut a strip of thick plastic, and use that for support. I shaped the plastic to snap in between the base of the steering column, and the top of the instrument panel. I drilled 1 hole near the top, and 1 that is 1.75" below, to fit with the top and bottom of the Ultragauge bracket, then slid a zip tie through 1 of the holes, around one side of the strip, back through the other hole, around the other side, and closed in back of the strip. The upper 3/4 of the support is about an inch wide, so almost all of the instrument panel is visible, the base is wider and it stays in place quite well. The Ultraguage snaps in, then out when I want to remove it, and the bracket stays in the car.

Thanks, sounds like a good idea.

So the UG is removable as far as being out of sight from thieves. Just a PITA to transfer vehicles. Got it. I guess I will be getting an UG! Wish Ecomodder sold them! And I won't bother with the UG $9 rebate from what I have read LOL talk about PITA. $8.50 with stamp/envelope!

rebate

I thought the same thing about the rebate, but wanted the 9 bucks, mailed it in later and got the rebate. Sending it in at the start would have helped, as the questions are a useful guide to setting up the Ultragauge and using the manual.

My wire runs up through the steering column, so it's not very removeable. But it's on top of the column right in front of the cluster, so it's not the most visible.

Yep, the rebate is a real PITA & not worth the trouble to me. I was able to get a couple UG's on the Tacoma World group buy for 50.00 each (no rebate needed), but not sure when they are having the next one. Usually 2-3 times a year.

I keep mine right on top of the steering column. It easily tucks away in the side pocket when I need to hide it.

What numbers vs speed do you watch for when using Inst G/H, and how do you relate it to Mpg?

You don't use inst gph for that, you let the computer do it- avg and inst mpg are taking up the top half of that screen. Inst gph is more useful for showing jumps in usage like with the AC or wagging a finger at you while you're idling.
