Yes, the wagon I mentioned is a turbo, as I approach 40mph it starts to respond somewhat. I have a 2nd Quantum wagon also that is an '84 but has a non turbo 1.6D from an '81 Rabbit, passed through an Audi 4000 before the transplant into my car.

The woman who uploaded that video just claimed that it could get around 92.5MPG, which by the way I doubt, but I didn't find any mention of speed. Probably around 25 or 30 MPH. |

I miss ever one I've ever owned. I see I made an error, though. The 1954 23-window barn-door bus was two years earlier.

Assuming you're talking about VW bugs, I can't say the same thing. The 1960 sunroof car was memorable in a good way, but the 1966 car rusted in ways that caused mucho woe. Such as the rocker panels -cum- heater ducts, which caused ice to form on the INSIDE of the windows when the defroster was run. Or the gas line, which made the car stink to the heavens, gave me huge headaches, and ohbytheway was crazy dangerous, and happened in the dead of winter. I ended up punching two huge holes in the center tunnel and fishing a whole new steel line through. I was glad to see that car gone, and I still am. |

I'm not saying they don't have their problems. You picked two of the more common ones. The 56 sunroof had rusty rockers, the solution was to never run the heater. A cup of hot water in the winter to defrost the windshield, or a 6mil polyethylene 'cold cap' I stored on the porch. Others had a heater that was on in the winter and off in the summer.
Right now the Superbeetle is in the shop with the motor out, I'm making sure they replace the [torn] rubber grommet where the fuel line passes through the sheet metal. If it falls out the sheet metal turns into a saw that cuts through the fuel line.
I also once had a girl friend that was high maintenance.
