Speed vs. MPG charts (post 'em if you got 'em)
Extracted from this EPA "Advanced Vehicle Testing Activity" report performed by Intertek for Idaho National Laboratory (INL):
http://avt.inl.gov/pdf/ice/fact2014chevroletcruze.pdf
Energy Consumption at Steady-State Speed, 0% Grade
10 mph = 38.1 mpg
20 mph = 54.0 mpg
30 mph = 68.4 mpg
40 mph = 63.6 mpg
50 mph = 60.5 mpg
60 mph = 55.4 mpg
70 mph = 50.6 mpg
80 mph = 43.8 mpg
WHY can't EPA put such info (graph) on the new car window stickers?

NO! Sadly, the Octavia/VW/Fiat 1.6 Diesel engine(s) w/start-stop feature have not yet made it to the USA BUT others have...
Volvo(w/start-stop) for one but their engines are gasoline, not Diesel :-(
Here in the US, we are downsizing but still in general the public STILL wants behemoths to cover their ass_s in case of a wreck(if all vehicles were smaller n more efficient, there be no need for larger more protective cars, etc...)
One day, some day MPG's should be required to be >40+ across the board !

Euh ... that's one of the Dieselgate diesels !
The engines have made it to the US, though I don't know wether these engines can combine a stop/start with DSG auto transmissions yet

I get 50+ at 65 in my Civic, yet it's rated for 42 on the highway. How fast do they test at? Lol.

Those (above) tests are NOT the same as the EPA Fuel Economy tests, they were done by Intertel for Idaho National Laboratory (contractor to EPA).
The EPA FE tests are done using this 'schedule' test sequence:
...and, notice the statement " Average Speed = 48.3 mph" -- even LESS than EPA's normal 50-55mph maximum -- and that 60 mph is only achieved THREE times...and only very briefly!

Frankly that would be a lot less confusing to buyers as 'steady state' speeds would take driving style out of the equation.

Because people would be lining up to sue when they drive to town at 50 mph yet don't see 60 mpg at fill up time. I've found it very difficult to explain things like this to some people. The test cycle gives a pretty good estimation of real world mpg with "normal" driving.

some of this dosent make sense. I routinely drive 70mph on the highway 200km a day in my golf tdi and my average consumption is around 47mpg. by alot of these charts I should be under 40mpg. what gives?
