For 2010 I'll finally have full access to a heated workshop and garage with an easy way to work under the car later this year.

So my modest goals for 2010 are:

- Belly pans for both cars
- Start working with fiberglass.
- Break 90 mpg in an economy run in the TDI

Me too!

Rust repair. I won't fall out of the car or anything like that. The bottom is very solid. Just my quarters need patched. I will be borrowing a friends 3M panel adhesive gun when the time comes.

I'm working on getting it to run better, new battery, used alternator, checking out my O2 sensor right now.

Either an MPGuino or vacuum gauge.

Just bought a scangaugeII for my truck, too bad it doesn't work in my VX!

OH, also changed to the Castrol 5W30 that is advertised here for lower friction.

Engine & Trans. It does shift smoother.

Also aired up my tires to 44 PSI. I just have to really watch all the pot holes that are springing up around NE Ohio. YIKES

For 2010,

I have a 2009 Hyundai Accent with 5 speet MT. Just did Grill block and Blocked 1/2 of lower grill. Seat ofpants feel is coasting further - waiting for next fill-up to confirm any mileage changes. Next purchase will be Moon Hub Caps - perhaps next month. One thing I dont like about Accent 5 speed manual is the gearing - way way to short - 70 mph is around3600 rpm. Am considering switching to higher profile tires from 185/65 R 14 to 185/75 R 14. This should drop rpms by about 6% but am little concerned about increase in ride height and effect on CDA. If go with this am wondering if could still use Eibach lowering springs.....drop by about 1.2 inches

M goal, get my drivers license, get my car, and ecomod in 2011. It'll be too cold to do anything when I get my car, so I'll have that time to work on my driving style.

2010 should be the year my IVT design gets into a vehicle. I think it will be a bike or a trike, still finalising the design in my head.

I haven't decided whether it will be human powered, or under a 50 CC motor, or something that is considered a motorcycle in Virginia, which is over 50CC.

It may be configured to allow the addition of supplemental power, starting off as human powered, then adding additional power sources.

I may start out with a bike, then add some form of motor power later.

As far as my current vehicles, they are pretty much the way I want them.

In the meantime we will be searching for financial resources to help with the cost, and that could change the strategy depending on the resources available.

regards
Mech

Taller tires also add more rolling resistance. I did about the same thing with my 95 EX. I had to ride the clutch a little more to get going. Not really sure if I helped the MPG's or not.

My wife's 92 Prelude is also along those lines at 70 MPH. Great car but only 28 MPG w/ premium gas. The 'Lude is a garage queen.

My VX @ 35mph = 1100 RPM...............I love this car!

First: Lighten all cars I drive by 40 lbs. Yeah, personal 40 lbs. But, about the cars...
The Escort-
Fix the deer damage/transplant the running gear into a good body.
seal front fascia, make front air dam.

The Grand Marquis-
Put a 3.08 rear end under it.
Make wheel discs.
Cut front springs to lower front 1"
Make front belly pan/air dam.
Convert eec iv to MegaSquirt MSNS
replace cfi manifold with edelbrock sp-2p, bore out cfi throttle body to 1 11/16
Put on Mustang shorty headers, have new exhaust installed.
Make new aero front fascia with fiberglass over foam.
strip vinyl roof, fix body, new paint.

That should keep me busy for a year. Or 5.

My goal for 2010 is to break 32 MPG commuting to work with my 4-liter Mustang. I got close at 31.89 last Summer...

lighter rims/tires

I might sell the 195/50/15 tires and rims from my Geo in order to buy some lighter wt 15s or 13s. These are 8 lbs per corner than the old stock 13s with crappy tires but the FE remained the same since these have less rr at 51 psi than the 13s had at 35. A couple of links to the pics:
