Again why risk driving when the windows are fogged or frosted over?
I don't see the benifit of crashing a vehicle to save 10 cents worth of electrical power or 20 to 30 cents worth of gas.

I scrape but then it fogs up again and have to stop to rescrape when it's -40f. But I'm not gonna sit there and idle it. They've got brakes.

Yep. And let's not forget that probably 99% of the people who idle their vehicles or use block heaters don't really care about seeing. They want to drive around in a toasty warm car so they don't have to bother dressing for the weather. No different from people who leave their cars idling in parking lots in the summer for the A/C.

I'm still not seen any compelling reason to not warm up the car and drive blindly down the road.
All I see here is a few people complaining about how other people warm up their vehicles.

The thread has a poor title. It should say "Why you should never idle your car".

Or they don't have access to a garage to preheat their car. Maybe they actually give a rats clacker about safety and want to see where they are going while not having their hands freezing onto the steering wheel. Or, god forbid, they want to be comfortable and not be a part of the hair-shirt brigade for the sake of a few cents!

Different strokes for different folks.

Stop generalizing based on your prejudices!

Maybe they should solo commute in a V8 4x4 with autostart, triggered at least an hour before departure. Be safe! Be warm! Be hip! Gas is cheap! Oh... most Uhmericans do that already.

Sorry it doesn't meet with your approval. The title was part of the original article title. I'll do better next time. I promise.
