How often you planning to drop an oil pan?

I've done it zero times in my life so far, and I do all my own car work.

I've dropped a transmission pan before, but I just did that out in the gravel driveway. No big deal.

Let me understand the scenario. You dropped an oil pan without having first removed the oil from it?

I'm just going to leave that alone.

Go to a big box home improvement store and buy the longest 2x12 you can safely carry to where your saw resides. Cut it into chunks with the least severe angle your saw allows, in such a way as to assemble them into ramps you can place in front of your wheels and drive your car onto. Or get raceramps or similar, but that would cost more.

Who wrote anything about dropping an oil pan?!

Are you talking about spilling a drip pan?!

The assumption is if it's drained sufficiently, dropping the pan shouldn't really spill much.

I don't think that I spilled anything when I dropped my Accord pan, although I may have spilled some when transferring the used oil.

I doubt that I spilled any while draining it? Remember, the Alaskan left my car 3 quarts low on oil!

It sounds like everyone is in the "Just climb under your car and drain your oil the old-fashioned way!" camp.

Oh, you wanted it to save on not having to crawl under the car? I thought the reason was to prevent spilling?

I'd rather drain from the bottom than pull from the top. The crap is going to settle at the lowest point and hopefully drain out. Not sure pulling oil gets as much junk out.

You guys started with #1, not the new posts?!

Weird!

Replacing the Civic oil pan?! Are you sure?!

I did that many years ago!

With the Accord oil pan, I just remember having difficulty maneuvering the pan under the frame rail and everything, but as I also posted in #1,

You never get all of the oil pulling the drain plug, since the hole isn't the lowest point of the pan.

Clearly you guys subscribe to "The only way I have ever done this is inherently the best!" theory.

Really? Ecomodder? You guys refuse to think outside the box?!

Everyone carries around an Overton Winbdow. I'm perplexed that there even is an oil pan, instead of an 8" plate on the bottom of split case halves.

Youtube has been wanting me to watch this, but I'm not interested enough. I've got Natasha Owen's #1 hit on Loop.
