Oh and I forgot to mention that the stalling issue hasn't happened since my last few fill ups so that's good.

Got bored so I made up some grille blocks. They turned out ok, once the paint dries I'll get some pics and a quick write up on how to do it.

Here are the grille blocks I made

This is the area they'll cover

I used the lid to an old plastic storage container for them cause they were getting thrown out. It was pretty simple I just traced the outline with a marker cut them out to get a rough shape and kept test fitting until they had a good fit with no gaps. Then I used a utility knife to smooth off the edges and sanded them so they were ready for paint. One coat of black spray paint on each side and that was it. They aren't perfect but you don't notice them once they're on so it doesn't really matter.

They use the same mounting as the plastic grille itself does but that's only one side so I'll probably glue the other side on and then use caulk to seal around the edges for the best fit since there is some flex.

I guess we'll see how it works.

Not much new but I have an arduino mega 2560 on the way for my OBDuino project.

MOAR (processing) POWAR!!!!!! And pinouts and voltages (is that a word?). Anywho that about it.

Except for the GIANT coroplast campaign signs in this one gas station near me that I have my eye on. They're probably 3.5x7 foot, bellypan anyone?

Wow, a mega for an obduio? I know the LCD eats up a lot of pins... but that seems like a lot.

Can you tell any difference with the blocks in? I'd imagine not since they're pretty small.

Thanks. I'm trying to maintain before modding as they say. The fender isn't perfect and I could probably use more clearcoat as it doesn't quite have a glass finish but it'll work for now.

I don't really know if the blocks will do anything right now since I don't have instrumentation yet but I figured it probably won't hurt since those openings are only for looks anyway. Once I either finish the OBDuino or get a scangauge I can actually do some testing on them.

I don't think I'll need the mega for the OBDuino but there are a few advantages to it over the uno for testing/prototyping purposes one of the biggest being that it handles higher voltage levels better but also because I want to add some extra features and shields to the project I'd rather have the extra pins. I plan to use a graphic lcd as well so that uses up a lot more pins than a standard character lcd does.

Aero Work

Here's the GM Impact and it's 'race' version, with Cd 0.19 and 0.14 (according to Goro Tamai's study of a report on the car).

The Impact was :
*lowered 40mm
*Mirror delete
*Cowl fairing
*Strategic body taping
*Flat wheelcovers
*500mm of boat tail
These are a 'sure thing' and worth pondering

Thanks aerohead. I've been thinking about some of those things on the list especially the wheel covers now it's more a matter of finding the time and materials to start testing.
