Cambridge University wins ROLEX 24-HRS of

I caught the last hour of the ROLEX' 24-Hours of Daytona,Sunday. The DPi-Class was won by the Taylor Racing', Cadillac-powered prototype, with driver Kamui Kobayashi bringing the car across the finish line for it's 3rd-in -a-row victory. It set a new, number of lapse per race record.
At the core of the car, lies a driver compartment which suspiciously resembles the 2013,Cambridge University Eco Racer (CUER) solar racer, sans flattened-tail PV array, tadpole.
The irony is that,Mark Reuss,President of General Motors was beaming after the win,for a car of which its bulbous nose, and teardrop-tapered body driver compartment embodies the exact kind of technology General Motors has suppressed since 1926;with its Paris dressmakers.A laugh out loud moment.

That's an interesting observation. Has GM been holding the secrets all these years?

I believe lil ole Mazda corporation's race car came in second right behind the Caddy after 24 hours of hard running. I was kind of proud of that, owning a Mazda and having great luck with it.

With complaints from dealers that their products were beginning to all look alike,in 1926,DuPont-General Motors adopted design obsolescence as corporate policy, with the annual styling change, under what Alfred P.Sloan referred to as the 'law of the Paris dressmaker.'
Innovation was stifled, styling usurping all other considerations, with global implications of which we're still tied to.

Yeah, but it wasn't that corporations invented the notion of getting bored with the same look; it's the reason why women are constantly changing their hairstyle, even if it's worse, just to do something different. Should we blame the stylist for giving the woman the cut she wanted rather than demand she stick with the better style?

Sloan didn't invent this, he realized the human nature and adapted a strategy that fit with our priorities. It isn't incumbent upon businesses to deliver the products they think people should want; it's to deliver the products people do want.

If you want products to be developed more "rationally", we'll need consumers to become more rational.

According to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambri...ity_Eco_Racing) in 2013 it would have been the Evolution.

I'd compare to the earlier 'table top' design of the Endeavor; just turned upside down for downforce. Or, Colani's 'water strider' Bonnevile car upside down.

Instead of 'faster backwards' it's faster upside down.

edit:
Separated at birth from Baby Template?

Instead of putting cells all over the outside, they have a [smaller] flat collector under a convex bubble. If the bubble were thick at the top and thin at the bottom edges, with a good refractive index, it would be a concentrating collector as well.

Nothing like concentrating solar radiation inside the cabin of a vehicle on a bright sunny day!

Wayne Taylor Racing's Rolex 24 hours of Daytona winning Prototype (P) class Cadillac DPi-V.R Prototype Race Car was designed by a Cadillac designer, Dillon Blanski. He won an internal competition to use Cadillac styling cues from the CTS and CT6 road cars. Even their racing wheels resemble their CTS-V alloy wheels. The racing car's side pods shared the Cadillac 'V' bodyside feature line. The trapezoidal shapes around the Cadillac crest create the air intake and cooling vents. The Italian Dallara P217 chassis, created for Le Mans Prototype 2 and DPi class served as the basis for Cadillac's carbon fiber monocoque variant. The closed cockpit now has air-conditioning as new rules requires cockpit temps not be over 10 degrees C over ambient temps. It has an 180 degree high resolution Gentex LCD rear view display built for the CTS-V, Escalade and the XT5.
