1.0L Ecoboost?

I see Ford has started offering this engine in the US Focus finally. Surprised me honestly since its a good 40hp drop from the base 2.0L engine.

Pretty much same mileage as the Fiesta 1.0, but you get an extra gear in the Focus. Rated 42 hwy, 43 hwy in the Fiesta.

Anyone have real world results?

What are the US fuel figures, in Europe we get some stupidly optimistic figures based on an imaginary drive in a closed cell road road in ideal conditions.

Imperial figures
Engine: 1.0T EcoBoost 100ps
Official MPG: 58.9–60.1 mpg
Real MPG Avg.: 40.6 mpg
Real MPG %: 69%

30 city/42 highway for the Focus 6 speed manual (Same as my Mk6 Golf TDI)

I believe 43 highway in the Fiesta 5 speed manual

Isn't the 2.0 FFV also fitted with DI? Even here in Brazil the 2.0 FFV has DI.

I have a sort of Ecoboost, Fiat's 0.875l Twinair 2cyl Turbo.

There's a two sided problem with all these small capacity turbos, boost=fun, but boost also means fuel enrichment (which comes on at very low boost- these cars can't really be driven off boost). Most people will struggle to get near the official NEDC figures, US EPA figures should be easier.

You can look at my fuel graph to see how much my economy improved as the engine wore in (still not fully run in IMO), this is why all the press cars were criticized for such poor economy.

I've managed an 80mpg run of about 14miles, starting and ending at the same point. At around 50mph on 'level' ground I can cruise at 80~100 MPG.

However, UFI is my weekend fun car, so I mix hypermiling with thrashing. My 48MPG 90 day is pretty good considering. We did a run with the Prius and UFI at the same time (switching drivers at half way), UFI beat the Prius by 7 MPG.

Given that UFI's the size of a Geo Metro (but a fair bit taller), and we've seen those hit 100mpg, while UFI's current tank sits at 58mpg -and is pretty close to the limit for this car you can decide if it's good or bad. With the base 4cyl, I expect I'd be knocking on 100mpg, but only with extensive EOC.

So I guess if you like EOC, stick to NA engines, if you don't like to have a bit of fun occasionally and can restrain yourself, these baby boosted models might be for you.

I like the torque curve of the engine; it peaks low and is pretty flat.
