19.42 MPG in a Jeep
OK, first fuel log entry was 18.9, above EPA standards for my Grand Cherokee. Tonight's fill up pushed me.5 MPG better than that, at 19.4. Granted, nothing compared to others with more economical leanings. But how about that, my average of 19.2 pushed me to 20% above EPA, which I guess is the magic figure to be tagged a "Hypermiler"! And I still have some other things I want to try.
Now my challenge is to KEEP it there. Summer is coming, AC will be on, Spring is here and more fourwheeling will hurt my average. I'll have to see how I can compensate. Wonder how I can equate trail cleanups into MPG...
I know, .5 isn't much. 19MPG average isn't great either. I really want to set my sights hard on seeing 20... Still not too bad for a brick!

No scangauge. 95 was the last year of OBD1. I'll do what I can to keep the mileage up, but I like AC... Though, I won't need it much until later in June or so. And weekends I'm intending to pull the front doors off the Jeep. Makes it easier to see where I'm placing the tires on trails. Trail riding will certainly bring my average down, since it is all slow slow stuff.
On the upside, we are getting closer to finishing the Ranger project... 2.3, 5 speed 4.10 gears and 4x4. Will be on 35" tires. On the old 31" tires I was getting 28 or so with it on my commute over the mountain. Short story, the cab has been replaced, everything from the old cab was moved to this cab. Suspension was upgraded for longer travel up front. If we don't like the 35" tires, we'll drop to 33" rubber. I got the 35s for free. On the 35s, the truck will sit one inch short of the legal lift limit in Utah for the weight class.

.5 mpg is fairly large on a ~20 mpg Vehicle (around 3%)!
If everyone saved just that much we would be a lot better off.

I'm not in competiton with anyone here, but myself... I'm also not trying to be a jerk. Just reporting that I am changing some driving habits and show some results.
I used to joke I could get less than 40 MPG from an Insight... Really, in the past when I would TRY to save fuel, I would actually use MORE!

Congrats rog
Are you going to be regearing the ranger? Would have thought 4.10s and 35s would be a little low
