1982 Prelude Convertible?
I found this on C/L, not mine but I thought someone might find it interesting. Sold new by the dealer as a convertible? Might be some competition for all the convertible Metros out there ha ha

wow, that is a cool car.
Also, just because it was sold at the dealer does not mean the top was not done by a third party. I have a 3000gt VR4 spyder which had all it top work done at ASC, then was sold as a spyder new at the dealer.

Cadillac Eldorados, Nissan 240SXs, lots of different Mercedes. If you have the money they have the time, but I have yet to see one where the door gaps don't open up by 100% when you put it on a 4 post lift. Most you can't even open the doors on the lift.

I have seen the 240 convertibles, I always thought it was some shop around here that had been making them! Like you say though, structural rigidity is not their strong suit. A million years ago my buddy bought a '69 Caddy 4 door, and proceeded to cut the roof off of it. I think it lasted 3 weeks before it had shifted and sagged so much that the doors stuck and got hard to open. And that's a '60s Caddy with a full frame. If that Prelude got a flat tire, I'd be scared to jack it up on one side just in case it bent lol. Doesn't mean I am not fighting the urge to buy it though

I did not see this while the Prelude was still listed, but I know a guy that chopped the roof off an old Cadillac. It was cool to ride in it, but he told us that we could not open both doors on one side at the same time.
I actually bent the frame on my Prelude. I had a flat tire and did not realize that my jack shifted when I pumped it, so it raised the wrong part. My door scraped until it wore down.

Yikes. Though I have a worse story about using a jack in the wrong spot. A friend with a dealership got a 2007 Corvette Z06 with 4000 original miles in. He told his tech to check underneath it and make sure it was as nice underneath as it was everywhere else. His shop was busy, so instead of using a hoist, some genius decided to use a floor jack. On the rocker panel. That is made of fiberglass. You can imagine the outcome. So don't feel so bad about bending your Prelude lol.
