20% improvement with Ultragauge

Hi all,
I was averaging right about combined epa of about 24 mpg before "re-committing to efficiency" a few weeks ago. I started logging my mileage on Jan 30, and I received my Ultragauge on March 9.

Just trying on my own, I increased my normal mpg to about 26.5. My last 2 tanks with UG yielded 29.5 mpg.
The funny thing is, I've never broken 29 mpg on an all highway trip. Now I'm doing this on my normal commute, mostly city.

I figure my return on investment on the UG will be mid to late May.
I really didn't think I could break 28 mpg on my normal commute. I know I'll break 30 soon. My new goal is 35.

Just wanted to share. I'm just giddy.

You be at 30 combined in no time, but I see 35 in your future if you bump the tires on up.

Doofus/Tele Man,
Absolutely. Getting feedback only once every week or so at the pump is not very effective.
It was neat seeing the real time readings that have verified what ya'll have been saying for years:
-don't accelerate uphill
-pulse and glide is really fun also, but much easier when traffic is light.
-engine on, coasting in neutral (really fun when exiting the highway to see that # shoot over 200)
-driving with load

Oh, and I failed to mention, that I did air up my tires to 40 psi. I might have to experiment some more with even higher pressures.

You are still calculating your mileage the same way at the pump. My ultragauge was not well calibrated when I got it.
